Upcoming Events
  • Thanksgiving Food Donations - Last Week
Members of the St. Anthony Park United Methodist Church again last year made an effort to boost the Food Shelf around Thanksgiving by purchasing a few items each week for four weeks and it made such an impact on our local food shelf which, like too many food shelves, is having a very difficult time keeping the shelves filled. Please consider this way to create a "meal in a bag" for a family of four for this year's Thanksgiving Dinner. It will be a reminder of Jesus' great love!
Every week choose an item from the list below and add it to a grocery bag in your home. On Sunday, November 16, 2008, we will each bring our bag to church as an offering.

November 16 Week Four - Turkey
Examples, grocery store gift certificates or checks made out to SAP UMC and Food Shelf written in the memo line. (Please place these in the offering plate so that they do not get lost - Thank you!)

Other items you might like to buy include, coffee, tea, fruit juice, napkins, paper plates, paper towels, or foil. Please bring your bag on November 16, 2008, the Outreach Committee will deliver the food to the Keystone Food Shelf on November 17, 2008, in an effort to get the food to people by Thanksgiving.

  • Barn Dance
Friday, November 14, 7-9 pm. Old Time Music, Old-Fashioned Fun. Hamline UMC (parking at the corner of Simpson & Minnehaha, entrance on the south side of the church). Admission: $3/person, $10/family.

  • Charge Conference
The Church Council will meet as a Charge Conference on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting on the pastor’s salary and compensation package.

  • Christmas Gifts for Residents of Saint Anthony Park Home
The United Methodist Women are collecting gifts again this year for the residents of SAP Home. Everyone is invited to provide a gift or two. Place your wrapped gifts in the box at the rear of the sanctuary. Each gift must be labelled: what the gift is, and whether it's intended for a man or a woman. There are 85 women and 19 men at the Home, so more women's gifts are needed than men's. The deadline for getting the gifts to church is December 14th. A list of suggested items includes:
Men: Men's socks, hard candy, sugar-free hard candy, chocolates with no nuts, large-face playing cards, cardigan sweaters size L or XL, t-shirts size L or XL, calendars with a male theme, money for haircuts at the beauty shop (make checks payable to SAP HOME), gift cards from local stores for shopping trips, wallets, men's cologne or after-shave, men's sweat pants size L or XL.
Women: Ladies socks size 9-11, ladies cardigan sweaters size L or XL, perfumes, lipsticks, jewelry, nice-smelling shampoos or conditioner, women's wallets, Universal remote control for television, money for beauty shop gift certificates (make checks payable to SAP Home), gift cards from local stores such as Wal-mart or Target, large face playing cards. Thanks for your help!
